Camp Oversight and Safety
-
Every camp employee and coach undergo background checks with both the U.S. Department of Justice NSOPW Registry and the Indiana Sex and Violent Offender Registry.
-
Every camp employee and coach is required to complete online training through Purdue University, including: “Youth Safety at Purdue – Reporting Child Abuse or Neglect” and “Protecting Children: Identifying and Reporting Sexual Misconduct.”
-
On average, we employ one camp employee/coach for every nine campers.
-
Campers of similar ages will room on the same hallway in the residence halls.
-
A camp coach is assigned to each hallway in the residence halls with their door clearly marked “coach” to help answer any questions or concerns.
-
Campers move from one location (gyms, residence halls and cafeteria) to another as a group – always, and at all times, with adult supervision.
-
Several roll calls are taken throughout each camp day to pass along information and to stay organized.
